There once was a unicorn named Twilight Sparkle.
She was very smart, studious and
always worked hard to make her friends happy.

One day, Twilight worked very hard helping her friends
and was given the title of Princess, a palace in Canterlot
and even an illustrious pair of wings!

Twilight was honoured to receive these gifts,
but she was worried about how she would manage to keep
an entire country happy, let alone her friends!

Reluctantly, she declined the new roll
and decided to stay with her friends in Ponyville.

The radiant Princess Celestia understood her feelings
but told Twilight that her role needed her and that
growing up isn't always the easiest thing to do!

Twilight Sparkle listened to Princess Celestia
and moved on to Canterlot to become
Equestria's new Princess!

---I'm not cut out for this.

After working diligently for a few weeks,
Twilight noticed that the locals weren't
happy with the new changes.

Feeling sad, Twilight Sparkle wished she could
be with her friends again and leave her new role
of Princess behind.

Princess Celestia saw this behaviour and
wanted the best for her citizens and her
faithful student.

Knowing that Twilight would eventually forgive her,
The best course of action would be to
cut her off completely from meeting her friends.

With her old obligations gone, Twilight would
fall back into her princess work, without distraction.

---I just wanted to make you happy.

Twilight was upset at the Princess Celestia's decision
But continued to prove she was the most studious pony
in all of Equestria.

Whenever she heard of any negative response
Princess Twilight met with it swiftly and adamantly.
She was going to make her mentor happy.

However, not all the other ponies liked
the new Princess's way of handling situations.
They were still upset at Twilight.

Upset at the turnout, Twilight vowed to Celestia
that she would never sway from being the leader
she was destined to be.

---I'll show her. I don't need anyone. I'll be the best, no matter what.

One cold night, Twilight had a terrible feeling
that kept her lying awake. She decided to go back to Ponyville
to check it out.

Upon reaching her old library,
she was met with empty bookshelves.

“We… thought you knew…”
Said her friend, Rarity.
Twilight turned around to see all her old friends
wearing The Elements of Harmony.

Twilight was disheartened to learn that her friends were
wearing the Elements in protection,
in case Twilight was to attack them.

“I'm sorry,” cried Twilight Sparkle.
“You're going to want to look away.”

“...”

After losing her pride, motivation, will, and everything she loved…
She was damaged.

“...forgive me…”

After losing her last few friends,
Twilight transformed into a wicked black mare...
